TABLE TENNIS GROUND RULES

1.   Directives of Play

      The tournament  shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Table Tennis Federation     ( I.T.T.F. 2005-2006 ) as supplemented and / or modified by these guidelines.

3.   System of Play

     3.1   The team events shall be played in the modified corbillon cup format.  The order of play shall be A vs. X, B vs. Y, doubles and shall end when either team has won the majority of the possible individual matches ( 2 out of 3 ).  Individual matches shall also be won when either player or pair has won three ( 3 ) out of five ( 5 ) individual games.

     3.2   A team shall consist of a minimum of three ( 3 ) and a maximum of four ( 4 ) per match and shall be selected only from the six ( 6 ) players eligible for the event.  Only one ( 1 ) of the single players ( A or B/X or Y ) from the teams may play in the doubles together with another chosen from among the six ( 6 ) comprising the team.  Each team may also choose to nominate two ( 2 ) non-singles players ( neither A and B, nor X and Y ) to play the doubles again to be selected from among the six ( 6 ) players eligible for the event.

     3.3   In the first stage, teams in each event shall compete against each other in a single round-robin with the top four ( 4 ) teams advancing to the 2nd stage.

     3.4   In the 2nd stage, a cross-over, 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3, shall be adopted.  If, however, the first ranked team has made a sweep of the matches in the first stage, the same shall have to be beaten twice by the 4th ranked team to advance the final stage.

     3.5   In the final stage, winners of the cross-over shall play for the 1st and 2nd places while losers shall play for the 3rd and 4th places.

4.   Uniform:  It is a must for the whole duration of the competition wherein the official school team uniform shall be worn strictly in all of its official matches ( tops and bottoms ).

5.   Wrong entry of players and blank entry are considered as automatic match forfeiture.

7.   Default time: Players / Teams who are not present at their assigned match tables shall be defaulted after 15 minutes grace period from their scheduled matches.
