St. Paul, St. Scho cop WNCAA cheering crowns

St. Scholastica's College reclaimed the senior cheerleading title while St. Paul College Pasig took the midget and junior crowns at the close of the 41st Women's National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Saturday.

St. Scho was undisputed champion for eight straight years but College of St. Benilde snatched the honor last year. Host Centro Escolar University and Miriam College placed second and third, respectively. St. Scho had earlier bagged the junior volleyball championship.

St. Paul topped the cheerdance midgets event, beating Poveda and De La Salle Zobel. In the junior division, it bested Poveda anew while St. Stephen's High School wound up third.

Rizal Technological University will host the 42nd season of the league being supported by official media partner Philippine Daily Inquirer, Lenovo, official print partner Manila Bulletin, Solar Sports and Monster Radio RX 93.1.

Previous winners in the league, also supported by Mikasa, Molten, Sonak Sports Trading, Taichi, Mojo, Bantex, Goody, MJC Press, Suesh and Kanebo, were Lyceum (Senior A basketball and volleyball), CEU (Senior B volleyball), Philippine Women's University (Senior B basketball), DLSZ (midget basketball, volleyball and badminton, junior futsal), Miriam (midget and junior taekwondo, junior basketball), La Salle College (junior badminton), San Beda College Alabang (midget and junior swimming), St. Stephen (junior table tennis), CSB (senior swimming) and RTU (senior futsal, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo).
