At the opening ceremonies of the
WNCAA's 34th season, keynote speaker, the honorable William
"Butch" Ramirez ( Commissioner of the Philippine Sports
Commission) inspired the audience when he spoke of how the season's theme
( KABABAIHAN: ITAGUYOD AT IPAGLAB AN ANG PAMILYANG PILIPINO AT KABATAAN)
how little things can make a big diffrence in various sectors of society.
"In an age where too often,
rules are turned upside down, principles are replaced by expediency, and
character is sacrificed for popularity, sports teaches us important moral
lessons that can be applied on and off the playing field in the
development of Good Leadership:
HUMILITY-which is
exemplified by the great champions
HONESTY-respect,
relationships, and unity all depend on TRUTH. A person who lies himself
and believes his own lies becomes unable to recognize the truth, either in
himself or anyone else, and ends up losing respect for himself and others.
Without truth, there can be no trust , and trust is the heart and should
of a team, a family, a nation.
