Senator Pia Cayetano

I extend my congratulations to the Women's National Collegiate Athletic Association on its 35th Season.

I am pleased to know that since WNCAA was founded in 1970, it has been the sole tri level athletic league devoted to women's sports development. Through the years, the WNCAA has progressed from simply providing venue for female athletes to demontrate their athletic prowess to becoming an organization which hones the skills and talents of our young women and enables them to be selected and qualify for the national leagues. This dynamic vision is what sets the WNCAA apart from any other sports organization in the country.

The WNCAA has contributed widely to the advancement of womens in sports. With the recent additions of more programs, I trust that the WNCAA will be able to encourage active participation from young women athletes and gain a wider support system.

As a former varsity athlete, I look back to my varsity days with much fondness. Not only were my skills honed but I also learned many lessons on discipline, perseverance and teamwork. I am what I am what today partly because of my exposure to competitive sports.

I am confident that the WNCAA will continue to pioneer the women's sports development in the Philippines. Let us work together in fulufilling this goal. May God bless our country and our people.
